Resources
As a parent, you can never have enough resources when making a decision about childcare. The links to the left cover some of the topics you may encounter when hiring a sitter for your children. What are the differences between a nanny and a babysitter? You may want to hire a sitter and then find out that you would be better off with a nanny.
What types of questions should you make sure to ask the babysitter you are about to leave your children with? It's not as important to me what ages of children a sitter has worked with when I am hiring a sitter for my ten year old child, but I want to know that for my one year old daughter. My one year old cannot speak for herself yet and is at the age where she screams to express herself. I want to make sure the sitter is experienced with this age and won't be frustrated by my daughter when she screams.
Some of my best sitters have shown up at my door with a bag of fun for my children to play with. Things like books, crayons, and art supplies to little crafts or activities that can keep my little ones busy while mom and dad are out. Although the best judges of sitters are our children. When we arrive home and find happy, peaceful, and satisfied children who ask for that sitter again, you know they are in good hands.
